Special Event:
Congregational Meeting Sunday, Jan. 22
A special congregational meeting will ber held Sunday, Jan. 22 as required by the church constitution, article B10.0102, which states: There shall be another congregational meeting to be held in January for the purpose of receiving annual reports of the ministries, committees, officers and other organizations of this congregation.
Special Studies Series for Adult Discussion Group
During the month of February, Pastor Robb will lead the Sunday Morning Adult Discussion Group in a special study series. Pastor Robb is requesting 'topic of study' suggestions from those who would like to participate. All adults are invited to participate. Discussions begin at 9:40 each Sunday morning.
Special Projects
Fifth Sunday Potluck Luncheon & 'Souper Sunday. The next Fifth Sunday Potluck Luncheon is scheduled January 29, immediately following the service. In conjunction with the Potluck, Teenagers across America will be collecting donations to to distribute to local food pantries. If you plan to attend the Potluck Lunch, please sign up on the participation sheet posted near the front door. Indicate how many will be attending with your group, counting yourself. Also list the dish-to-share that you'd like to bring. Those who don't consider cooking to be their strong suit are welcome to bring such items as plates, plastic cutlery, or beverages (tea, juice, etc.) For more details, call Marina Pilling. Also, please remember to contirbute to the worthy Souper Sunday project.

Computer Equipment and Copy Paper. The Helping in His Name ministry, based in Stockbridge is in need of copy/ paper, as well as five computers. If you have any used computer equipment (check the basement), please contact their center at 678-565-6135. Remember that it's possible to build a functiong computer system from the components (CPU/laptop, monitor, cables, etc.) from 2-3 different systems. If you can spare any operational component, please don't hesitate to call the center.
Backpacks Project to Feed Hungry Kids Completed. During the Christmas season, members of St. Luke participed in the Backpack Ministry . Partnering with local schools, this ministry provided school backpacks filled with
non-perishable food to deserving students. Each backpack contained enough food to sustain a family in need during the Christmas season. Members donated non-perishable food items.
ü Holiday Projects Accomplished!
Samritan's Purse: Children and adults filled and wrapped 25 gift boxes for the 2011 Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Ministry. Children at St. Luke collected items for the boxes for many weeks. During the Christmas season, the Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Ministry sends toiletries, school supplies, and small toys to children in Third World Nations. Many thanks to all who contibuted to this project, and especially to the tireless Mary Beth Egas, coordinator.

Note: The usual Christmas Food box project will be postponed until Easter. More details to be provided in the spring.

Community Outreach
Taco Lunch at Children’s Shelter: The fourth Sunday of each month, St. Luke members provide a "Taco Feast" for the young people and staff of the Henry County’s children’s shelter known as A Friend’s House. To help with the Jan. 29 lunch, please contact Mary Beth Egas or Marina Pilling. If you can contribute food or assist with serving please sign up on the participation list posted near the front entrance of the church .
Food Pantry Ministry:· Members are asked to continue their donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries to St. Luke’s Food Pantry.
Scripture and Study
Men in Mission: A Call to Prayer for the Men of St. Luke! Lutheran Men in Mission meets on the first Monday of each month, 7:30 pm at St. Luke. The group studies and discusses scripture, and is now concentrating on the Book of Acts. The men also participate in community improvement projects. The next meeting is Monday, Feb. 6.
Healing mind and Body: The Order of St. Luke (OSL) meetings will resume In January. Meetings take place at 4:30 pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month at St. Luke. This study examines incidents of healing recorded in scripture, and considers their application to modern society.
